39-year-old John Ellis killed and two other Amanda Cormier and Frank Matott injured in Edgewater shooting

On October 5, 2023 at approximately 9:30 PM, EPD responded to the 1500 block of Juniper Drive reference a person shot. It is confirmed three (3) victims were shot in the wooded area north of this location. One (1) has been pronounced deceased on scene.

The remaining victims are currently being treated at the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Victims identities:

• Victim 1 – Deceased – John G. Ellis – 39 y/o W/M
• Victim 2 – Amanda L. Cormier-Campbell – 22 y/o W/F
• Victim 3 – Frank J. Matott – 41 y/o W/M

The shooting occurred at a make-shift transient camp located north of the dead end of Juniper Drive north of 15th Street. The shooting was not a random incident. EPD is seeking information to identify the suspect vehicle, a white Jeep Wrangler, and a white male associated with the Jeep.

• Make: Jeep Wrangler
• Color: White

Possible Identifiers:

Neon green front bumper, hard top, over-sized tires, possible Texas license plate, loud exhaust
