Mill Creek Police responding to active shooter scene on East Gore between Cider Mill and Lake Pleasant roads

We are following a developing situation in the 1000 block of East Gore Road in Millcreek Township, where emergency responders were dispatched to a reported building fire.

Police and firefighters were called to the scene on Tuesday afternoon following the initial report of a structural fire. Nevertheless, upon the arrival of fire crews, they were instructed to remain staged away from the scene.

Mill Creek Police and several other police agencies are on the scene of an active shooter situation on East Gore between Cider Mill and Lake Pleasant roads.

The roadway is blocked now. There is a heavy police presence in the area.

Shots have been fired and victims are receiving treatment.

Police have the area surrounded but there is no resolution at this time.

Emergency calls were made shortly after 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, reporting a fire incident. Eyewitness accounts from the location indicated a substantial deployment of firefighters, ambulances, Millcreek Police (including their armored vehicle), and state police at the scene.

Nearby residents reported hearing gunshots in the vicinity, and law enforcement has verified these reports. However, they have not yet established a connection, if any, between the gunshots and the fire.

Mercyhurst University issued a cautionary text message, notifying students and individuals in the vicinity about an active shooter situation. As of 5:30 p.m., authorities report that the situation has been resolved, and the safety of community members has been ensured.

Police ask public to please stay out of the area.
