The two victims killed in the early Tuesday morning shooting in the parking lot of The Pint House on Merchant Drive have been identified as Zachery Herrera, 28, of Knoxville, and John Goosie, 41, of Knoxville.

Following an extensive investigation throughout Tuesday, Knoxville Police Department Homicide Unit detectives, with assistance from Field Operations Officers, Organized Crime Unit detectives, and Knox County Sheriff’s Office personnel, identified two suspects: Kevin Matthews, 40, and Steven Davis, 36.

Surveillance footage from the business revealed that Matthews and Davis approached the bar and began assaulting Herrera, a security guard at The Pint House, outside the front entrance for reasons still unknown. Goosie, a patron, was attempting to break up the fight.

During the altercation, Matthews pulled out a gun and fired multiple shots, hitting both Herrera and Goosie. An adult woman also suffered minor injuries from a graze wound to the foot. Herrera died at the UT Medical Center, while Goosie died at the scene.

Matthews is facing charges of two counts of first-degree murder. Davis has been charged with aggravated assault and violation of parole. Davis was taken into custody last night by Organized Crime Unit detectives and Community Engagement Response Team officers in the parking lot of the Shell gas station at 6210 Asheville Highway just before 10 p.m.

As of this morning, the search for Matthews is ongoing.

Anyone with information on Matthews’ whereabouts is urged to contact East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers at 865-215-7165. Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward. Matthews is considered armed and dangerous.
