3 killed, 2 injured after shooting near UC campus in Corryville

Three people have died and two are hospitalized following an early Monday morning shooting in Corryville, near the University of Cincinnati campus.

Cincinnati police reported that five individuals were shot around 2:45 a.m. while officers were on patrol and heard the gunfire.

The shooting took place at the intersection of University and Highland Avenues, where officers discovered four victims.

A fifth victim transported himself to a nearby hospital.

Police are still gathering evidence along Highland Avenue in Corryville, where three individuals were shot and killed overnight.

Two victims were pronounced dead at the scene, while a third succumbed to their injuries at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

Two additional victims are in stable condition at the same hospital.

According to Cincinnati police, all the victims are male, but their ages have not been confirmed.

The crime scene covers multiple blocks, and local residents reported that the gunshots sounded like fireworks or a scene from a movie.

The shooting occurred just a block from the University of Cincinnati Medical Center and a few streets away from the University of Cincinnati campus.

Officers have a person of interest being interviewed at the Criminal Investigations Section.
