42 people shot in 3 mass shootings overnight

Overnight, three mass shootings resulted in a total of 42 people being shot:

  • In Akron, OH, 27 people were shot.
  • In Penn Hills, PA, 9 people were shot.
  • In Louisville, KY, 6 children were shot.

Shooting in Akron, OH:

Tragedy struck Akron, Ohio overnight as a shooting near Kelly and 8th avenues left at least 27 victims in its wake, one a 27-year-old man who died.

The chaos began just after midnight with a flurry of 911 calls reporting multiple people shot.

The wounded were rushed to nearby hospitals, while police swarmed the scene recovering dozens of shell casings and a single gun.

Despite their efforts, no suspects have been apprehended yet.

Summa Health Akron Campus [formerly Akron City Hospital] is treating victims of the recent shooting. According to police, some of the 27 injured individuals arrived at the emergency room on their own.

The ER entrance is currently secured by police tape, and surrounding roads are closed.

Shooting in Penn Hills, PA:

At 2:53 am on June 2, County 9-1-1 was notified of a reported shooting in the 3500 block of Laketon Road in Penn Hills.

First responders discovered an adult male and adult female deceased inside Ballers Hookah Lounge and Cigar Bar.

Seven additional victims were discovered throughout the course of the investigation.

There were multiple victims transported from the scene and additional victims walked in to area hospitals.

One of those victims is in critical condition. The remaining victims all have non life-threatening injuries.

Penn Hills Police requested the assistance of the Allegheny County Police Department’s Homicide Unit and detectives initiated an investigation.

Preliminary information indicates an altercation took place inside the bar and multiple individuals opened fire.

Shooting in Louisville, KY:

A shooting erupted near PRP in Louisville, Kentucky early Sunday morning.

Six minors, all under 18, were injured in the incident which occurred in a business parking lot on Raggard Road where a party was taking place.

Thankfully, police believe none of the injuries are life-threatening.

The scene is being investigated by LMPD’s Crime Scene Unit and no suspects have been identified yet.
