A tragic incident occurred in Anderson County, South Carolina on Friday morning.

A woman, identified as 36-year-old Katy Brooke Jones from Williamston, was fatally shot by 32-year-old Derek Snyder as she arrived for work at 7 am.

Ms. Jones was found shot multiple times inside her car at 100 Exchange Logistics Park Drive.

Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

The shooting was ruled a homicide by the coroner.

A swift arrest has been made in the murder of Katy Jones. Authorities apprehended 32-year-old Derek Snyder in Buford, Georgia, just hours after the incident.

The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, South Carolina, credits their investigators with meticulous evidence gathering and following leads that crossed state lines.

Working with Gwinnett County and Georgia authorities, they apprehended Snyder during a traffic stop shortly after he left a residence.

Snyder faces charges of murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

He awaits extradition, and a motive for the crime remains undisclosed as the investigation progresses.
