Update: Local law enforcement are clearing Mountain View High School first and will then proceed with lifting the Lockdown and Shelter in Place with the remaining schools in the area.

To ensure the safety of all students, we ask parents to allow the situation to clear so that dismissal can be safe and timely as possible.

On Friday morning, April 26, an individual was taken into custody following a “potential threat” that prompted three schools near the Montana Vista area to go into lockdown, as reported by the Clint Independent School District (CISD).

According to CISD, law enforcement responded to a photograph showing an individual holding what appeared to be a weapon in the vicinity of Montana Vista.

Mountain View High School, East Montana Middle School, and Montana Vista Elementary School were placed on lockdown as a precautionary measure.

Additionally, Red Sands Elementary implemented a shelter-in-place procedure as a safety measure, according to CISD.

CISD assures that both students and staff are secure, with students from Mountain View High School soon to be released from campus.

CISD states that all other schools in the area will adhere to the previously planned early release schedule.

Police continue to investigate the incident, and no further details have been disclosed at this time.

This is a developing story that will be updated when more information is available.
