One person in custody after entering Batavia Walmart with loaded shotgun
No charges are expected at this time.
The Batavia Walmart was evacuated but has since reopened. Chief Deputy Brian Frieday from the Sheriff’s Office stated that they received a 911 call reporting someone loading a shotgun in the parking lot and entering the store.
Frieday clarified that the individual was actually returning an unpackaged air rifle.
No charges are expected at this time.
According to a customer outside, all employees and customers were evacuated from the store, and there is a significant police presence in the vicinity.
