28-year-old Mechellea Williams killed in Orland Park shooting
The perpetrator fled the scene following the shooting.
In the early hours of Wednesday, a woman was discovered fatally shot in southwest suburban Orland Park.
Police were called to the scene following reports of gunshots shortly after midnight near 170 Redbud Lane.
Upon arrival, officers located a gunshot victim inside a vehicle.
Despite efforts to save her life, the woman was pronounced dead.
Orland Park authorities have identified the woman as 28-year-old Mechellea Williams from Chicago.
The perpetrator fled the scene following the shooting.
Police have assured that there is currently no threat to public safety, and the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
