According to investigators, a woman has died in an officer-involved shooting in Cleveland.

Cuyahoga County spokeswoman Jennifer Ciaccia stated that Cleveland police officers were situated in the 10500 block of Garfield Avenue when two speeding cars passed by, with one of them firing shots.

Responding, Cleveland officers discharged their service weapons toward the vehicles.

One vehicle fled while the other crashed nearby.

Ciaccia mentioned that officers discovered a woman outside the crashed vehicle, providing assistance until EMS arrived and transported her to University Hospitals.

26-year-old Antwonia Carter, the woman involved, succumbed to her injuries.

The Cuyahoga County Use of Force Investigation Team is presently examining the incident, according to Ciaccia.

No arrests have been reported.

The exact cause of the victim’s death, whether from a bullet discharged by the suspect or an officer, or as a result of the crash, remains unconfirmed.
