Police reported a fatal shooting incident outside a dormitory at Georgia State University on early Sunday afternoon.

Responding officers were dispatched to 120 Piedmont Avenue NE after receiving reports of a person shot, as indicated by the Atlanta Police Department (APD) around 1:40 p.m.

The address corresponds to an apartment complex situated across from the University Commons dormitory.

According to the ADP’s initial inquiry, authorities suspect the shooting took place at the adjacent RaceTrac store, where multiple shootings have occurred over the past year.

Upon their arrival, officers discovered a male victim with several apparent gunshot wounds.

The individual was found unresponsive and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

It remains unclear whether students were involved or if there is any ongoing threat to the area.

The Homicide Unit investigators are en route to the scene, as stated by the police.
