Update: The Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office has identified Economedes High School as the location of the officer-involved shooting.

18-year-old Alvaro Alcudia was apprehended without resistance on Wednesday at Economedes High School.

Allegedly, he attempted to run over Edinburg police officers in a stolen vehicle before colliding with a patrol unit.

Although an officer discharged his weapon, Alcudia was not hit, and there were no reported injuries.

Alcudia is set to appear for arraignment on Thursday at 2:30 p.m.

The lockdown at Economedes High School was lifted Wednesday afternoon, as confirmed by Lisa Ayala, a spokesperson for Edinburg CISD.

When contacted by Channel3 NOW, Roxanne Lerma, a spokesperson for the city of Edinburg, stated that an investigation is currently ongoing and emphasized that there is neither an active shooter nor any reported injuries at the scene.

Edinburg Police are advising everyone to avoid Economedes High School as they are currently conducting an investigation into an incident.

They have confirmed that there is no active shooter, no reported injuries, and all students are safe. The lockdown has been lifted by the district.
