Victim killed in Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade shooting identified as Lisa Lopez-Galvan

According to officials, one individual has succumbed to injuries, and at least 21 others have been wounded in a shooting in Kansas City, Missouri, following the parade and rally celebrating the Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory.

Kansas City Police Chief Stacey Graves announced during a media briefing on Wednesday that three suspects have been apprehended, referring to the shooting as a “tragedy.”

According to Kansas City police, the shooting occurred west of Union Station, near the garage, as Chiefs fans were departing. Approximately 1 million attendees were anticipated at Wednesday’s celebration.

9 children between the ages of 6 and 15 are among the shooting victims at the Super Bowl rally in Kansas City. All of them are expected to survive.

Lisa Lopez-Galvan, a mother of two from Johnson County and a cherished disc jockey in Kansas City, has been confirmed deceased in connection with the shooting that occurred at the conclusion of the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl parade celebration on Wednesday.

During a press conference held at 5:30 p.m., police only acknowledged one fatality, leaving uncertainty as to whether Lopez-Galvan is that individual or a second victim.

Lopez-Galvan reportedly succumbed to a gunshot wound to her abdomen during surgery Wednesday afternoon at University Health, formerly known as Truman Medical Center.

Lopez-Galvan, an alumna of Bishop Miege High School, resided in Shawnee. Aged in her mid-40s, married, and a mother of two adult children, she worked as a disc jockey for KKFI, the community radio station, and co-hosted the program Tejano Tuesday, which showcased Hispanic music.

Her brother, Beto Lopez, serves as the president and chief executive officer of the Guadalupe Centers. Prior to her passing, Lopez-Galvan’s Facebook page was inundated with messages conveying hope and prayers throughout the afternoon.

Following the Kansas City Chiefs’ victory over the San Francisco 49ers on Monday, she reached out to her friend at The Star, seeking a commemorative edition and asking, “‘Can I get a paper?'” Lopez shared. “She has a wonderful family. She was such a joyful person.”

During a press conference held at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, police initially reported one fatality and 10 to 15 individuals injured by gunfire. Lopez-Galvan is believed to have passed away after this initial briefing.

However, during the 5:30 p.m. press conference, the number of gunshot victims was revised to 22. Police, however, continued to confirm only one fatality.

The names of other victims have not been disclosed.

Additionally, police stated that three individuals, rather than two, have been detained.
