Man killed in a drive-by shooting outside Mirabito Stadium in Binghamton
As of 6:30 p.m., law enforcement has no information about the suspect
Binghamton Police Chief Joseph Zikuski reported that a drive-by shooting occurred just outside Mirabito Stadium Friday evening, resulting in the death of one person.
Zikuski stated that he does not believe the shooting was random and reassured the community that there is no ongoing threat.
The victim, identified as Billy Thabando, was fatally shot while inside a vehicle and died at the scene.
As of 6:30 p.m., law enforcement has no information about the suspect, but witnesses reported multiple shots fired from the vehicle.
At approximately 5:30 p.m., Binghamton Police and New York State Police assembled along Henry and Lewis streets, deploying numerous officers to the area. K9 units were also deployed on-site.
Binghamton Police are leading the investigation into the shooting incident, while state troopers aided in maintaining crowd control at the location.
