Hoax active shooter threat at UNC Charlotte

(Charlotte, NC) – UNC Charlotte’s campus experienced a heightened police presence on Thursday afternoon due to a false active shooter threat, according to CMPD.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police is currently on-site, assisting with a building evacuation at the request of UNC Charlotte Police.

CMPD assured that there is no evidence of an active shooter, and no injuries have been reported.

All students and staff are confirmed to be safe.

Authorities have advised residents to avoid the area at this time.
