14-year-old charged in connection to shooting death of 19-year-old Caden Martin at Charleston Tobacco & Pipe shop

A 14-year-old has been charged in relation to a fatal shooting and robbery at a Charleston tobacco shop on Tuesday night, as per the police.

The juvenile is alleged to have entered the Tobacco & Pipe shop in the 2000 block of Seventh Avenue, wielding a firearm, and demanding money and merchandise, according to a statement from the Charleston Police Department.

Subsequently, the juvenile fired shots at the employee, 19-year-old Caden Martin of Dunbar, as he exited the establishment.

Upon arrival, the police discovered Martin deceased behind the counter.

The suspect was apprehended around 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday and is facing charges of first-degree murder and robbery, as stated in the news release.
