Channel3 NOW has received numerous calls about an incident near Coffee Middle School this morning.

Law enforcement authorities swiftly addressed a morning call in the vicinity of Coffee Middle School, prompting the school to go on lockdown temporarily.

Upon thorough investigation, officers found that a woman was en route to a pawn shop to pawn a rifle.

Notably, she had the firearm openly visible as she walked. The situation was effectively managed, and there was no imminent threat to the school.

The incident stemmed from a disagreement between the woman and her husband, leading her to decide to pawn his firearm in frustration.

It seems she didn’t initially realize she would need to pass by the school on her way to the pawn shop until the arrival of the police brought this to her attention.

The school system released the following statement regarding the incident:

“Before the start of school this morning, Coffee Middle School received reports of a female walking along the side of the road carrying a rifle. As a precaution, the school was immediately placed on lockdown and law enforcement was notified. Upon investigation, it was determined that there was no threat to the school. The lockdown has been lifted and normal school activities have resumed.”
