Hoax active shooter call at Meadville Medical Center Facility
No immediate threats have been identified.
On 1/24/24 at approximately 11:00AM, the Meadville City Police Department received a call for an active shooter at the Meadville Medical Center Facility on Alden Street.
Officers responded and quickly cleared the building, finding no evidence of an active shooter or any disturbance.
A second call then came in for an active shooter at the Meadville Medical Center Facility on Terrace Street. Officers again responded and cleared the building, with no evidence found of an active shooter or other disturbance.
The investigation into the cause or source of the calls is ongoing but preliminary details show that there was never an active threat to the facilities and the incident most likely stemmed from a miscommunication.
