15-year-old Zyaire Kayon Hill killed in Eufaula shooting

Update: Two individuals, Gavin Lebron Martin, 18, and Jamichael Trevon Leonard, 18, face charges in the shooting death of Eufaula teen Zyaire Kayon Hill over the weekend.

The charges include capital murder and discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle.

Eufaula is currently the subject of an ongoing investigation following a fatal shooting that took place on Sunday, involving a teenager.

Barbour County Sheriff Tyrone Smith has confirmed the death of a 15-year-old in Eufaula.

Deputy Coroner Bradley Green has identified the victim as 15-year-old Zyaire Kayon Hill.

Hill succumbed to a single gunshot wound, the result of someone firing through the driver’s side back door and hitting him in the front passenger seat.

Eufaula Police Department detectives are currently handling the investigation.

In response to the shooting incident and the anticipated severe weather on Tuesday, Eufaula City Schools have announced the closure of schools on Monday, January 8th, and Tuesday, January 9th.
