42-year-old Troy Moore killed after shooting in Lancaster

Investigators said they identified Gregory Scott Coleman, 52, of Lancaster, as the suspect in Moore’s killing.

Lancaster, S.C. (12/28/2023) – Lancaster Police Department has identified Gregory Scott Coleman, 52 of Lancaster, S.C. as the suspect in the Willow Lake shooting on 12/27/2023.

Detectives obtained warrants today and charged Coleman with the murder of Troy Moore, 43 of Lancaster, S.C. Coleman is being held without bond at the Lancaster County Detention Center.

12/28/2023 – 11:30am Update: Per Lancaster County Coroner, Karla Knight Deese: The victim has been identified as 42-year-old Troy Moore of Lancaster, SC.

The incident occurred within the City limits of Lancaster and is being investigated by Lancaster City PD, the Multi-jurisdictional Task Force, and the Lancaster County Coroner’s Office – Forensic autopsy is being scheduled.

Lancaster, S.C. (12/27/2023) – Lancaster Police Department was notified of a shooting in the 100 block of Willow Lake Road at about 4:20pm. Officers were dispatched to the scene where they found a male subject with a gunshot wound lying in the road. Lancaster EMS responded to the scene and transported the victim to MUSC-Lancaster for treatment. The victim later died from his injuries. Currently, officers are speaking with a person of interest. Updates will be provided as information becomes available.
