Two teenagers sustained injuries in a shooting at the Franklin Park Mall food court on Tuesday evening, as confirmed by detectives at the scene.

Toledo Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz informed Channel3 NOW that it was an accidental incident involving a 15-year-old boy who unintentionally shot himself and a 15-year-old girl.

Mayor Kapszukiewicz relayed information from TPD Chief Mike Troendle, stating that the 15-year-old boy was apprehended by police after being discovered hiding in a dumpster behind a nearby business.

Although both teens were hospitalized for their injuries, the mayor characterized the injuries as non-life-threatening.

A security representative from Franklin Park Mall mentioned that the mall remained on lockdown just before 7:00 pm, and it would not reopen for the remainder of Tuesday night.

This is a developing story that will be updated when more information is available.
