Late on the night of December 20, a shooting occurred at Sweathogs Bar and Grill in southern Indiana, resulting in one fatality and another individual recovering from gunshot wounds.

The incident unfolded around 9:30 p.m., as reported by the Clark County Sheriff’s Office. Upon their arrival, officers discovered a man who had succumbed to a gunshot wound and a woman with gunshot injuries.

Regrettably, the man, identified as 36-year-old Alvin Huttsell according to the Clark County Coroner’s Office, lost his life at the scene.

The woman is currently receiving medical care, with no updates on her condition provided. Sweathogs owner Butch Adams mentioned that the deceased individual was a regular patron of the establishment.

Butch Adams, the owner of Sweathogs Bar and Grill, reflected on the profound impact of the incident, especially when regular patrons transition from being mere customers to friends and neighbors.

In tight-knit communities like theirs, lives tend to become interconnected in various ways. Adams emphasized the devastating nature of such events within a small community, describing the incident as profoundly distressing.

Recalling the events of that Wednesday night, Adams mentioned that he was still inside when the situation rapidly unfolded in the parking lot. Despite the gravity of the situation, he noted a lack of chaos, recounting the sudden sounds of gunfire.

Adams further explained meeting with his manager outside, where she conveyed the shocking nature of the incident. In response to the incident, a post on the bar’s Facebook page referred to it as a “tragic event.”

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office reported that a man was apprehended and subjected to questioning, but subsequently released following consultations with the prosecutor’s office.

The sheriff’s office assured the public that there is no ongoing threat to public safety. Additionally, it was indicated that the individuals involved in the incident might have had prior acquaintance, suggesting that the occurrence was isolated.

To aid in the investigation, Indiana State Police investigators are providing assistance.
