18-year-old Joshua Brown arrested in the death of his mother 53-year-old Deborah Baker in Toledo

Police have arrested an 18-year-old man, Joshua Brown, from the 2200 block of Warren Street, accusing him of fatally shooting his mother, Deborah Baker, 53, at their central Toledo residence.

The incident took place around 12:36 p.m. at the Warren Street house near Batavia Street.

Brown has been charged with reckless homicide in connection with the shooting, according to a statement from the Toledo police.

Baker was transported to a hospital but succumbed to her injuries.

Toledo police Lt. Paul Davis reported that the shooting took place at approximately 12:36 p.m. at the Warren Street house near Batavia Street.

Upon receiving a report of a person shot, dispatched officers arrived at the scene, discovered the victim inside the residence with at least one gunshot wound, and subsequently apprehended her son, as stated in the official statement.

Mr. Brown is in the process of being booked into the Lucas County jail, awaiting arraignment at Toledo Municipal Court.

Four years ago, Toledo police utilized social media to post about Mr. Brown when, at the age of 14, he went missing from his home on Warren Street and was subsequently located.

The post highlighted his high-functioning autism and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder.
