21-year-old Hunter White arrested and charged in the fatal shooting of 27-year-old Javier Medina near El Cajon

Authorities from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department have apprehended a suspect linked to a deadly shooting near El Cajon earlier this week.

The individual in custody is identified as 21-year-old Hunter White, and the arrest was made on Friday in connection to the shooting that occurred in unincorporated El Cajon on Monday, Nov. 13, as stated in an SDSO release.

The incident transpired at approximately 9:56 p.m. in the 400 block of E Bradley Avenue.

The victim, identified as 27-year-old Javier Medina, was discovered with critical gunshot wounds by SDSO deputies from Lakeside and Santee.

Medina was declared deceased at the hospital two days later, on Wednesday, Nov. 15. An investigation conducted by the SDSO resulted in the apprehension of White.

The nature of the relationship between the suspect and the victim remains unclear at this time, according to authorities.

White, presently held at San Diego Central Jail, is charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
