Amarion Kirk and Jasani Taylor shot and killed at the Quality Inn & Suites on Lincoln Way West

Update: On Thursday, October 19, around 2 p.m., South Bend Police Officers were dispatched to the 4100 block of Lincoln Way West in reference to shots fired.

Upon arrival, officers located two males suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. They were pronounced deceased at the scene. The males have been identified as 20-year-old Amarion Kirk and 22-year-old Jasani Taylor.

The South Bend Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation and is treating this as a homicide.

Autopsies have been scheduled for October 21.

Authorities are actively pursuing a suspect following a tragic incident on Thursday afternoon in South Bend’s northwest vicinity.

Law enforcement responded to the 4100 block of Lincoln Way West, in close proximity to the South Bend International Airport.

Upon arrival, they discovered two men with gunshot injuries, both of whom succumbed to their wounds.

A suspect is currently being sought, last seen fleeing from the scene.

As a precautionary measure in the ongoing investigation, the Quality Inn & Suites in the vicinity has been evacuated.
