The Rochester Police Department has identified the victim of the fatal shooting just before midnight on Friday on Portland Avenue near Norton Street as 32-year-old city resident Shalar Davy.

According to RPD, an altercation occurred among a small group of individuals gathered on the sidewalk, which ultimately led to the shooting.
Upon receiving a report of the incident, officers promptly arrived at the scene.
They discovered the man with at least one gunshot wound to the upper body, located near a sidewalk and an alleyway.
Despite being swiftly transported to Strong Hospital, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival. RPD emphasizes that no suspects have been apprehended at this time, and urges anyone with pertinent information or video footage to contact 911.
