1 killed, another injured after shooing at Busy Bee gas station in Lake Charles

Update: Travis Melbert, 24, is facing a second-degree murder charge in the Saturday morning shooting of two people at a Lake Street gas station.

Lake Charles Police tell us it was a altercation with several parties involved and gunfire exchanged.

They are still investigating, but have identified Melbert as the man suspected of killing Christopher Pattum, 30, and injuring another person who is said to be stable.

Lake Charles Police are currently responding to a fatal shooting incident that occurred Saturday morning on Lake Street.

A Channel3 NOW crew is en-route to the Busy Bee gas station, the scene of the incident.

According to the Lake Charles Police Department, one victim was declared deceased at approximately 7 a.m., while another individual is reported to be in stable condition.

No suspects have been identified, and there has been no information immediately released regarding any arrests.

Police ask public to please stay out of the area.
