22-year-old Willie Jackson and 26-year-old Joseph Mobley arrested after shots fired outside Half Barrel in Knoxville

Officers found two loaded handguns in the car as well as an amount of marijuana.

Two people were arrested after Knoxville Police Department officers quickly responded to an overnight report of shots fired outside of Half Barrel on Cumberland Avenue.

At around 12:15 a.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2023, KPD officers responded to the area of 1829 Cumberland Avenue.

Witnesses reported that a man had fired shots following an altercation outside of the Half Barrel and then ran from the scene.

While circulating the area in search of the suspect, officers received information that the suspect had fled in a white car towards Clinch Avenue. Officers spotted the car a short time later and stopped it with the assistance of University of Tennessee Police Department officers.

The driver, identified as 22-year-old Willie Jackson, and the passenger, identified as 26-year-old Joseph Mobley, were detained.

Officers found two loaded handguns in the car as well as an amount of marijuana.

Through continued investigation at the scene, Jackson was positively identified as the suspect in the shooting. Jackson was charged with three counts of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm while under the influence among other charges.

Mobley was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and simple possession.

Four individuals, three women and one man, suffered non-life-threatening injuries to their feet or legs, which appeared to be a result of being struck by gunfire fragments or debris. Three were treated on scene, while one was transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
