Lockdown at C. E. Byrd High School lifted after armed man reported

Update: Authorities in law enforcement have confirmed the safety of students at C.E. Byrd High School and Creswell Elementary after receiving reports of a potentially armed individual either on or near the high school campus on Wednesday morning.

The lockdown was initiated at approximately 11:20 a.m., as reported by officials from Caddo Parish Public Schools. Subsequently, the lockdown was lifted around 1 p.m. following the completion of security checks by officers. Parents were duly informed of the lockdown through text messages, as confirmed by officials.

Authorities received reports of an individual armed with a weapon either on or in the vicinity of C.E. Byrd High School in Shreveport on Wednesday.

The initial call was made at approximately 11:45 a.m. on September 6th. Initially, at least 10 units from the Shreveport Police Department were dispatched to the scene, and an additional 15 units from the sheriff’s office also responded to the call.

Authorities from the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office have verified that law enforcement personnel are conducting a search for the potentially armed individual on the school premises.

C.E. Byrd High School is situated at the intersection of Line Avenue and Kings Highway.
