1 dead, 4 injured after shooting in Kenney, Illinois – Suspect Jose Munoz at large

Update: The man on the run from the shooting at 635 Kenney Road in south of Kenney, Illinois is Jose “Jesus” Munoz, 5’6″, 180 lbs,he left in a white 2019 Honda Accord, license plate number, Illinois plates, DT50632.

He is Hispanic with black hair, brown eyes. He is a former Mexican resident and may be heading south.

One victim was found inside of his vehicle on Route 54 and Jordan St. in Kenney, he sustained multiple gunshot injuries. He is now in stable condition. There were 4 other occupants hiding on scene. They informed officers there was a 5th victim, whom was fatality injured.

If you see the Honda or Mr. Munoz please call 911 or local police immediately. Do not approach him.

The 4 surviving victims are holding up relatively well, considering what they’ve been through, according to the DeWitt County Sheriff.

Mr. Munoz is wanted for murder and other felony charges related to this incident.

Officials are not sure if he’s still near Kenney or 6 hours away. He could be anywhere. Officials say to please call if you think you’ve seen him. You aren’t annoying them. They’ve already received calls and it was not him. Don’t hesitate to call!

Update from DeWitt Sheriff: Dewitt County Sheriff’s Office and multiple assisting law enforcement agencies are actively investigating an active shooter incident that occurred just south of Kenney, IL on Kenney Road at approximately 3:23 p.m. The lone male suspect is still at large, believed to still be in the area and is considered armed and extremely dangerous. Everyone is asked to avoid the entire Kenney and surrounding area while law enforcement works to mitigate this ongoing situation. Sheriff Walker requests that everyone within a two (2) mile radius of Kenney shelter in place, or safely evacuate the area if able. Lock doors, stay safe and report any suspicious activity immediately by calling 911. More information will be released as it becomes available.

In Kenney, Illinois, within Dewitt County, gunshots were reported, resulting in multiple people being shot.

Responding to the incident were the DeWitt County Sheriff’s Office, Clinton Police Department, Farmer City Police Department, Illinois Conservation Police, ISP SWAT team, Kenney Fire Department, and DeWitt County EMS.

According to information from nearby sources, a man allegedly shot his wife, son, and father-in-law.

Route 54 and County Road 7 is currently closed near Kenney, Il due to an active shooting situation.

No suspects have been identified, and there has been no information immediately released regarding any arrests.

Police ask public to please stay out of the area.
