Sheriff’s Deputy shot in Hillsdale County, Michigan

A sheriff’s deputy was hospitalized Thursday afternoon after being shot in Hillsdale County, as reported by the Michigan State Police’s first district.

The deputy’s current condition is unknown.

MSP states that the suspect remains at large following the shooting near the intersection of Beecher and Lamb roads, approximately 25 miles west of Adrian.

Authorities are actively searching for the suspect, Eric Michael Fiddler, who is considered armed and dangerous.

Fiddler is described as 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing 190 pounds, with brown hair, hazel eyes, and wearing all dark clothing, according to MSP.

Multiple law enforcement agencies, including K9 units, Aviation teams, and the Emergency Services Team, have been dispatched to the scene.

Residents and commuters are advised to avoid the area as it remains an active crime scene.

MSP detectives are leading the investigation.
