A fight on the Alabama State University campus prompted a large police presence on Wednesday.

ASU spokesperson Kenneth Mullinax reported that the fistfight involved students from Pearl High School, an alternative school.

The external group had rented the Acadome for a graduation ceremony.

Mullinax confirmed that no shots were fired and no ASU students were involved in the incident.

For the safety of students and staff, school officials decided to shut down the campus.

There is no information yet on whether any arrests were made.

This is a developing story that will be updated when more information is available.
