Three militants killed in Dagestan have been identified as the sons and nephew of the head of the Sergokalinsky district.

According to law enforcement agencies, the district head has been detained, and his house is currently being searched, Interfax reports.

Magomed Omarov, the head of Dagestan’s Sergokalinsky district, has been detained due to the involvement of his sons, Osman and Adil, in the attacks on Makhachkala and Derbent.

Six law enforcement officers and a priest have reportedly been killed in what appear to be coordinated attacks by gunmen in Russia’s southernmost province of Dagestan. Father Nikolay, aged 66 and very ill, had his throat slit in the attack.

This is a developing story that will be updated when more information is available.
