NJ State PBA President Peter Andreyev asks everyone to pray for the critically injured Philadelphia Police Officer who was shot last night. “Our brothers and sisters in Philadelphia Police Department and Philadelphia FOP Lodge #5 have been with us time and again throughout difficult times. We are here for them at these most difficult hours. Please pray for this 6 year veteran who was protecting his city when he was shot.”

Incident details: A Philadelphia police officer is fighting for his life after he was shot in the city’s Kensington neighborhood on Saturday, according to police.

The officer and his partner were conducting a traffic stop on a vehicle shortly before 8 p.m. on the 3500 block of F Street when he was shot, officials said. Four people were inside the car.

While the officers were conducting inventory on the contents of the car, they saw a holster, Philadelphia Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel said during a press conference late Saturday night.

A man in the car fled the scene and fired his gun three times at the officers, striking one of them in the neck, Bethel said.

The officer’s partner returned fire at the suspects, according to Bethel.

He is currently in the surgical ICU and listed in critical condition.

The officer who was shot is 31 years old and a six-year veteran of the force.

This is a developing story that will be updated when more information is available.
