Citing an anonymous source, Channel3 NOW reports that MPD Chief Brian O’Hara allegedly blamed local politicians for Officer Jamal Mitchell’s death during a meeting with officers.

We’ve learned that Officer Mitchell was working a mandatory overtime shift in a single-officer squad due to short staffing. According to the MPD, Mitchell was “rendering aid to an injured male when the injured male assassinated him and continued to shoot him after he fell to the ground.”
