Hoax active shooter call at Monhagen Middle School in Middletown

Officials from the Middletown school district have stated that a 911 call this afternoon, claiming an active shooter at Monhagen Middle School, was deemed a hoax by law enforcement.

The school underwent a brief lockdown while police conducted a sweep of the premises.

The district is currently investigating the incident.

District officials have revealed that the swatting call originated from the school’s cafeteria, as per police, and the individuals responsible have been identified.

After assessments by multiple agencies, it was concluded that the threat lacked credibility.

There is no ongoing active shooter situation at Monhagen Middle School or any other campus in Middletown. Lockdown lifted after around 5 minutes and initiated a lockout as a precautionary measure.

A comprehensive search of both the interior and exterior of the campus was conducted as an extra safety measure.
