 D.C. Housing Authority police officer shot inside Arris apartment complex in Washington

The D.C. Housing Authority police are leading the investigation into this incident with the assistance of MPD.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), a D.C. Housing Authority police officer was shot early Thursday morning at an apartment complex in Southeast D.C.

The incident took place inside the Arris Apartments building at 1331 4th Street, Southeast, around 5 a.m.

A resident of the building informed Channel3 NOW that the premises were evacuated, and residents were instructed to shelter in place while authorities continued their search for a suspect.

Officials urged residents to steer clear of the area as both MPD and Housing Authority officers conduct an investigation. Due to ongoing police activity, the following road closures have been implemented by MPD:

  • M Street between New Jersey Ave, SE, and 6th ST, SE
  • 4th Street between Water Street and L ST, SE
  • 5th Street between L Street, SE, and M ST, SE
  • Tingey Street between New Jersey Ave, SE, and 4th ST, SE

The D.C. Housing Authority police are leading the investigation into this incident with the assistance of MPD.
