58-year-old Edward Holmes killed after officer-involved shooting in Buffalo

A fatality has occurred after a shooting involving officers in Buffalo on Saturday morning.

Police were dispatched to a report of an armed individual shortly before 10 a.m. in the 100 block of Reed Street.

Upon their arrival, officers encountered a man wielding a shotgun and instructed him to disarm. According to law enforcement, the man discharged one round, prompting two officers to return fire.

The man sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

Witness at scene told Channel3 NOW crew member that Eddie has been shot at least 17 times.

The officers present at the scene provided assistance until the arrival of the Buffalo Fire Department; however, the man was declared deceased on-site.

Buffalo police identified the individual on Sunday as 58-year-old Edward Holmes of Buffalo.

Both officers involved have been placed on administrative leave.

Investigators suspect that the phone number used to contact the police belonged to Holmes.
