35-year-old Jamarcus Brown shot and killed by DeSoto County deputy

According to the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI), a DeSoto County Sheriff’s Department deputy fatally shot Jamarcus Brown, aged 35, near the border between DeSoto County and Tunica County on Wednesday, February 21, 2024.

MBI stated that deputies were in pursuit of a vehicle and conducted a PIT maneuver near the intersection of U.S. 61 and MS 3 in Lake Cormorant, Mississippi.

According to his mother, Jamarcus Brown, aged 35, was shot and killed by a deputy from the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Department on February 21, 2024. Brown’s vehicle crashed following the PIT maneuver.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) reported that deputies deployed a K9 on Brown, and he allegedly shot the dog.

Subsequently, deputies opened fire, fatally injuring him.

According to the MBI, no officers sustained physical injuries, but the K9 suffered serious injuries and was promptly taken to a local veterinary hospital.
