20-year-old Isaiah Mallord arrested in connection with murder of 17-year-old Jayden Polk

A Jacksonville resident is set to be incarcerated in the Cherokee County Jail on charges of murder following a shooting incident on Wednesday.

Cherokee County Sheriff Brent Dickson disclosed that Jayden Polk, 17, of Jacksonville, was the victim of a shooting at approximately 10:04 p.m. on Wednesday.

The incident occurred on CR 1804 in the Maydelle community, prompting deputies to respond to reports of gunfire.

Polk sustained severe gunshot injuries and was later pronounced deceased at a nearby hospital.

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of Isiah Mallord, 20, also from Jacksonville, on a murder charge related to the shooting.

Mallord, currently in stable condition at a Tyler hospital, awaits transfer to the Cherokee County Jail, as stated in the release.

Dickson confirmed that Mallord is the same individual, aged 20, who was transported from the scene in critical condition on that night.
