18-year-old Montrell Briggs and 18-year-old JaMarques Patterson found dead in Brandon

A juvenile suspect has been apprehended in connection with the deaths.

Authorities in Brandon are conducting an investigation following an overnight shooting that resulted in two fatalities.

Brandon Police Chief Joseph French stated that the incident occurred before 2:00 a.m. on January 30, with officers responding to numerous calls reporting gunfire in the vicinity of Mary Myles Drive and Mary Crain Circle.

Upon reaching the scene, officers discovered two deceased individuals who, according to French, seemed to have succumbed to gunshot wounds.

The police chief identified the victims as 18-year-old Montrell Briggs from Florence and 18-year-old JaMarques Patterson from Pearl.

French disclosed that a juvenile suspect has been apprehended in connection with the deaths, and further charges of shooting into an occupied vehicle and aggravated assault are currently pending.
