The Scotland County Sheriff’s Office apprehended a 15-year-old in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred on Tuesday night.

Deputies responded to the incident around 6:15 p.m. on 9th Street in East Laurinburg.
Upon arrival, they discovered the lifeless body of 25-year-old Isaiah Smith from the Bayfield community, who had sustained a gunshot wound.
The circumstances leading to the shooting remain unclear, and it is uncertain if additional arrests will follow.
The teen is currently in custody.
