Update: She has been found.

In the early morning hours of Sunday January 14th, thirteen year old Johanna “Jax” Woody left her home in Waterford Township, after her father left for work. She was last seen at home around 7:00pm on Saturday January 13th and reported missing Sunday morning at 10:05am. Johanna struggles with mental illness and is described as high-functioning autistic.

Johanna is a 13-year-old white female, 5’6″ tall, approximately 125 pounds, with brown eyes and shoulder length strawberry blond hair.

There is some indication this was pre-planned by Johanna. Detectives have interviewed family as well as friends and acquaintances of Johanna, one of which reports she told that she had met a twenty-one year old man from Jackson, Michigan over the internet and was planning to run away with him.

Although Johanna does not have a cell phone of her own, Detectives believe she is in possession of one. That phone does not have cellular service, however Johanna has been using it by connecting to Wi-Fi, to communicate through Snapchat.

Detectives have obtained some data from Snapchat and are currently analyzing that data in an attempt to establish investigative leads. We are also working with Michigan State Police (missing children’s clearinghouse) and the FBI.

There has been no neighborhood video located that would help identify a suspect or suspect vehicle at this point. We have put out a request on the RING Neighbors app for any such video that may have been recorded in the area.
