22-year-old Veronica and her father 44-year-old Steven Cica shot and killed in Battle Creek

Authorities have disclosed that the two individuals fatally shot in Battle Creek on Saturday were a father and daughter.

The incident occurred at approximately 6 p.m. in the 600 block of Algonquin Street near Morgan Road, according to the Battle Creek Police Department.

Police were dispatched to the location after dispatchers reportedly heard gunshots during a call regarding an attempted break-in at a residence, as stated by BCPD.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the lifeless body of a 22-year-old woman with apparent gunshot wounds.

Police have reported that a 44-year-old man, who suffered apparent gunshot wounds, was taken to the hospital and succumbed to his injuries on Sunday.

The individuals involved were identified as father and daughter, according to the police.

The suspect, Todd Edward Bolden Jr., aged 22, turned himself in on Sunday and was subsequently booked into the Calhoun County Jail. He was arraigned on Monday, and his bond was denied.

According to the police, it is believed that he was acquainted with both victims, and on Monday, authorities mentioned that he shared a “child in common” with the victims.
