21-year-old Saul Garcia Macias wanted in the shooting death of 17-year-old Sofia Lugo
At this time, detectives have been unable to make contact with Garcia Macias in reference to the death of Sofia Lugo, and his current whereabouts are unknown.
On Sunday, December 10, 2023, at approximately 12:55 a.m., Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) deputies responded to a report of a suspicious death at a home in the 1000 block of NW 111th Court, Dunnellon.
When deputies arrived, they located a female, identified as 17-year-old Sofia Lugo (H/F, DOB: 11/04/2006), who sustained a gunshot wound.
The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. MCSO Major Crimes detectives responded and initiated a homicide investigation.
Through the initial investigation, detectives have developed the victim’s boyfriend, 21-year-old Saul Garcia Macias, as a person of interest.
At this time, detectives have been unable to make contact with Garcia Macias in reference to the death of Sofia Lugo, and his current whereabouts are unknown.
