Massive Crown Heights apartment fire leaves 3 people dead and 14 injured

A substantial fire erupted in a Crown Heights apartment building on Sunday morning, resulting in the tragic deaths of at least three individuals and injuries to 14 others.

The fire initiated at 242 Albany Ave. around 4 a.m., as confirmed by FDNY officials.

FDNY Chief of Operations John Esposito reported that there was intense fire on three floors of the building.

Esposito emphasized the challenging nature of the firefighting operation, stating, “A fire operation like this with heavy fire… very dangerous operation for our firefighters; at the same time, conducting searches.”

Emergency CPR was administered to the three individuals who tragically lost their lives at the scene, as reported by authorities. Subsequently, these three individuals were officially pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
