7-year-old boy killed after shooting at home on Youngstown’s south side

A tragic incident unfolded when a young boy was fatally shot at a residence on Youngstown’s south side.

Youngstown police reported that the shooting occurred at approximately 8 a.m. at a residence located in the 300 block of Marmion Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a 7-year-old boy who had sustained a gunshot wound.

They immediately initiated life-saving procedures while awaiting EMTs to transport the child to the hospital. Despite their efforts, the child succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

Youngstown detectives, along with the Crime Scene Unit, conducted a thorough examination of the scene.

Although it is still in the early stages of investigation, authorities are leaning towards the belief that the shooting was accidental.

However, they have not completely dismissed other potential scenarios and will persist in their inquiry.

Detectives stated that they will confer with prosecutors regarding potential charges as the investigation progresses.
