According to a statement provided to Channel3 NOW by the police, Samantha Woll, a 40-year-old president of a Detroit synagogue, was discovered fatally stabbed outside her residence on Saturday.

The authorities were alerted by a 911 call from a concerned individual reporting an unresponsive person on the ground that morning.

Woll, who had been serving as the president of the Isaac Agree Downtown Detroit Synagogue since 2022, was found with ‘multiple stab wounds,’ and a path of blood led to her home, as stated by the police.

Police officers followed a trail of blood to the victim’s residence, believed to be the scene of the crime, as stated in the report. Emergency responders pronounced her deceased on-site.

This tragic incident involving the synagogue president occurs amidst a global rise in anti-Semitism, exacerbated by the Israel-Hamas conflict and the attacks carried out by Hamas terrorists on Israel.

An intelligence alert from the FBI, DHS, and the U.S. National Counterterrorism Center, obtained by Channel3 NOW, cautioned earlier this week that recent events in Israel have elevated the risk of violence in the United States, either inspired by or in response to the war.

“At present, Woll’s case has been classified as a homicide, though the police have stated that the motive remains “unknown” at this point. Woll had previously been employed in the reelection campaigns of Attorney General Dana Nessel and Rep. Elissa Slotkin (D-MI). Nessel spoke of Woll as a compassionate individual and expressed her profound sorrow upon hearing the news.”

“I am shocked, saddened and horrified to learn of Sam’s brutal murder,” Nessel said. “Sam was as kind a person as I’ve ever known. She was driven by her sincere love of her community, state and country. Sam truly used her faith and activism to create a better place for everyone.”

The Isaac Agree Downtown Detroit Synagogue expressed profound shock and sorrow over Woll’s passing. In a social media statement, they conveyed, ‘We are deeply shocked and saddened by the sudden loss of Samantha Woll, our Board President.

At this juncture, we have limited information but will provide updates as they emerge. May her memory be a source of blessing.
