15-year-old shot near Greenberg Elementary School at an apartment in southeast Fresno

On Thursday morning, an inquiry was launched after a 15-year-old was shot near an apartment close to Greenberg Elementary School in southeast Fresno, as reported by the Fresno Police Department.

Law enforcement responded to the vicinity of Lane and Peach avenues in southeast Fresno after a “ShotSpotter” alert reported around 7:45 a.m., indicating 11 shots had been fired in the area.

As a precautionary measure, Greenberg Elementary was put on lockdown while police conducted their investigation.

Officers stated that this lockdown was implemented to ensure the safety of the campus while they verified its security.

Authorities report that the teenager sustained injuries to his leg and side and was promptly taken to a nearby hospital.

Fortunately, he is anticipated to make a full recovery. Investigators hold the belief that the victim, who is approximately 15 years old, was deliberately singled out in this incident.
