39-year-old Natalie Carter died from her injuries after shooting incident on East 23rd Street in Winston-Salem

Winston-Salem police have reported the tragic passing of a woman after a shooting incident on late Friday night. Natalie Carter, 39, succumbed to her injuries on Sunday.

Authorities stated that on October 13, around 10:24 p.m., they received reports of a shooting at East 23rd Street.

Upon arriving at the scene, police discovered two victims, both afflicted with gunshot wounds. They were identified as a mother and daughter.

Carter’s next of kin has been informed about her passing. Presently, there is no information available about a suspect.

This incident marks the 40th homicide of 2023, in contrast to 28 homicides recorded during the equivalent period in 2022.
